This exercise, adapted from the LUMA collection, helps teams align on goals. It ensures everyone works toward the same outcome. It's useful for clarifying objectives at the start of a project.

The team will produce aligned impact goals and clear success criteria. This creates a foundation for measuring progress.
Use the Impact Ladder worksheet to structure the goal-setting process. Encourage honest discussion. Not everyone will agree right away. Sometimes, it takes a few rounds to reach a consensus.

  1. Individual reflection: Each team member writes down their vision for the project's impact.

  2. Share individual goals: Each person shares their vision with the group.

  3. Identify common themes: Look for overlaps and shared aspirations among the visions.

  4. Discuss differences: Address any conflicting visions or priorities.

  5. Create shared impact statement: Develop a unified goal statement that reflects the team's collective vision.

  6. Define success metrics: Establish specific, measurable criteria for achievement.
