Objectives

Visualize your theory of change. Create a clear impact narrative. Establish a foundation for measurement. Communicate your solution's rationale.

Outcomes

You'll get a logic model for your program. You'll also have a clear theory of change and a foundation for evaluation.

Step-by-Step Instructions

A Logic Model is a visual narrative that summarizes your solution's activities and how they lead to change. It's great for communicating the rationale behind your solution and for developing a monitoring and evaluation plan.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Write the following on sticky notes: IMPACT, OUTCOMES, OUTPUTS, and INPUTS. Put them on the wall, with IMPACT at the top and INPUTS at the bottom.

  2. Get the Impact Ladder worksheet you completed during your Theory of Change activity. It follows the same structure: activities (OUTPUTS) address key shifts (INTERIM OUTCOMES) to achieve bigger goals (KEY OUTCOME and IMPACT).

  3. Write your various outputs/outcomes on sticky notes and organize them on your wall.

Facilitator Tips

This can be complex with multiple solution components. Use the visual flow to test your logic. Does each step actually lead to the next? Sometimes, the hardest part is simplifying the model to its core elements.
