For a deeper connection, teams can find three commonalities. Use a specific naming format (e.g., "Adjective-Animal"). To narrow the focus, choose a theme relevant to your team.
This works well when participants don't know each other. Model vulnerability by sharing first. Ensure quieter voices are heard. Close with clear transitions. Sometimes, the naming part falls flat – acknowledge it and move on.

  1. Setup (1 minute): Prepare materials. Ensure everyone can see and hear. Brief the group on the activity's purpose and outcomes. Set expectations for participation. Create a safe environment.

  2. Individual Preparation (4 minutes): Each participant reflects on the prompt. Encourage authentic responses, not "correct" answers. Focus on specific examples and experiences.

  3. Sharing Round (7 minutes): Each person shares their contribution. Maintain a supportive atmosphere. No interruptions or judgments. Note themes and connections.

  4. Group Discussion (3 minutes): Reflect on common themes and insights. Explore what the activity reveals about team dynamics. Connect insights to upcoming work.
