Sketch Your Mood

Participants visually express their current emotional state or energy level through simple sketches. This exercise activates visual thinking and builds confidence in sharing ideas without judgment. It strengthens team relationships and prepares everyone for productive work. I've found that even the most hesitant participants enjoy this once they get started.

This activity increases team cohesion and interpersonal connection. Expect higher energy levels and engagement, plus deeper mutual understanding, which provides a foundation for collaboration.
To focus on mood progression, ask participants to draw their mood at the beginning, middle, and end of a project or meeting. This helps visualize changes in emotional states and identify potential triggers.
Emphasize that no artistic skill is needed. Share your own drawing first to model vulnerability. Be aware of group energy patterns and adjust the pace as needed.

  1. Introduce the activity (1 min): Explain the goal: draw your current mood/energy using simple sketches. Abstract shapes and colors work well. Share your drawing briefly.

  2. Individual Work (3 min): Participants prepare their contributions.

  3. Sharing Round (5 min): Each person shares their drawing with the group.

  4. Wrap-up (2 min): Reflect on common themes and insights.
